  1. Hi Todd,

Thank you for continuing to create and post these! You and I corresponded years ago. I gave the suggestion of more bird sounds and sharing which bible translation you were reading from so that we can follow along. ☺️
I’m now two years into my spiritual direction program with one more to go. Your podcast is a gift that I share with others. Thank you for your time!

    1. Dear Ashley,
So good to hear from you! Thank you for taking the time to connect. Yes, I remember you and your suggestions. As a result of them, I have begun personally recording bird and running water sounds when I’m out in quiet spots in the mountains and then using some of them as background for my podcast. The one I am most often using these days comes from an early morning outside my brother’s beautiful mountain house in the foothills of Mt. Shavano, near Salida, Colorado. And I think I am sharing what translation I am using most weeks. Although, it never changes — it’s The Message Bible from Eugene Peterson. I just think that it makes for a more unique offering.

What spiritual direction program are you in? What have you found most invigorating? I love serving as a spiritual director!

If you are ever out here in Colorado, please reach out and maybe we can get coffee or something together in person.

      Deepest Peace, Ashley.
      With Gratitude,
      Todd

      1. Hi Todd,

The sounds are quite calming and are very helpful in helping me transition from my busy busy mind to a time of stillness.

I am in a program called Zeitgeist in Atlanta. Our fearless leader, Debonee Morgan, was in the first cohort of Richard Rohr’s Living School. I really really enjoy it. I appreciate the fact that we have people from different faith traditions who offer their perspective while giving me the opportunity to get out of my own box (and into a bigger one ☺️). It is my true passion! I pray quite frequently that God would open the door for me to do it full-time, somewhere somehow!

I want to extend the same offer, if you are ever in the Atlanta area. It would be great to meet and if possible, introduce you to others in the spiritual direction community here.

Thanks again for what you do!

        Ashley

      2. Hello Again Ashley,
Zeitgeist sounds wonderful! I’ll have to read up on it. I’m always running into folks looking for a spdr program. I love Shalem, where I did my training. But there are many doing great work as well. And Atlanta is a beautiful city. I went to Emory for seminary and really loved the city and the school. I still have dear friends there so maybe we will meet around there one day.

Speaking of Rohr, as you can tell by how often I quote his works, he is one of THE most influential thinkers of my life. I have enjoyed spending time with him in various settings and learning from him over the years. I love participating in his Conspire conferences down the road in Albuquerque. Have you listened to my conversation with him on my website?

Well, you have wonderful weekend. Take care!

        And Deepest Peace,
        Todd

      3. Hi Todd,

I believe I have listened to it. Things Hidden in Scripture was the first Rohr book that I ever read and I remember not being able to shut up about it! Universal Christ is on my list!

  2. Your gift of music is a balm to the soul, Todd. I so look forward to both your photo and song choices as the “vestibule” for my time with your guided Lectio. Thank you God for giving Todd these inspiring, creative gifts.
